The conference theme for 2014 is:

“Instrumentation and Measurement for Sustainable Development”

Montevideo is a wonderful, exciting, lively, beautiful and culturally rich city, offering you, the attendee, a host of activities to enrich your I2MTC experience!

Montevideo, a harbor colony settlement established by Spain in 1724.

Its name Monte Video given by Fernando de Magallanes expedition when they saw a hill on the flats. Today a cosmopolitan million and a half multicultural friendly people city. Involved in the Second World War in the "Battle of the River Plate", and hosted the first FIFA soccer (football) World Cup in 1930. A place to visit by its rich architectural and cultural heritage, native music styles as Tango and Candombe.

Surrounding the Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel:

  • the "Palacio Estévez" (old house of government)
  • the "Torre Ejecutiva" (new presidential house of government)
  • "Palacio Salvo" twin of Buenos Aires ("Palacio Barolo"), known by the famous "Graff Zeppelin" approach picture from 1934
  • the "Teatro Solís" oldest country opera theater from 1856
  • the "Mausoleo de José Artigas" national hero memorial at the middle of the "Plaza Independencia" square
  • the "Peatonal Sarandí", a walkway with latin typical handcraft shops, live music bands, restaurants and "bars" (pubs ), from international McDonalds to "La Pasiva" where you can savor the typical Uruguayan "chivito al plato" (Uruguayan beef, French fries and Russian salad).
  • Five blocks to the south and walking easth you find the "Rambla Gran Bretaña" and "Rambla Argentina" and their beautiful beaches.
  • Nine blocks west and 4 more north you find the "Mercado del Puerto" an old barn pool of "parrilladas" ("asado" style barbacue) to have the best tasteful meats and fish lunches.
  • Two blocks west you find the "Plaza Constitución" with the "Cabildo" (original colony chapter) and the "Iglesia Matriz" (original colony Cathedral).
